This is the view from Avenger Open Space overlooking Woodland Park. The Kings Crown neighborhood below was once significantly impacted by investor-owned short-term rentals. Following the passage of the Citizens Initiative, this and other neighborhoods have seen a return to a more peaceful, residential character, with full-time neighbors, consistent with the intent of local zoning.
What is Protect Residential Property Rights?
Protect Residential Property Rights in Woodland Park is a grassroots community organization dedicated to preserving the residential character of our neighborhoods and upholding the intent of local zoning. We advocate for policies and practices that protect property rights, support responsible governance, and ensure that community voices continue to be heard in decisions that shape our city.

Special Election Results
For reference, these were the results of the December 2023 Special Election in Woodland Park.
Ballot Question #1 – Citizens Initiative: Established regulations preventing STR motels in residential neighborhoods, while still allowing short-term rentals in primary residences so local residents could rent out a portion of their home for extra income.
Ballot Question #2 – Competing measure: Would have allowed STR motels in residential neighborhoods.
The outcome clearly reflected the will of Woodland Park voters.
What were the pros and cons?
This is a repost of the Special Election “Blue Book” published by the Greater Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce ahead of the December 2023 election.
The Blue Book provided voters with pros and cons for both ballot questions and was prepared under the Chamber’s requirement that statements included be factual and verifiable.
The election followed extensive community discussion about short-term rental regulations and resulted in the passage of the Citizens Initiative in a landslide vote.
The document is reposted here as a reference for those interested in reviewing the information that was provided to voters at the time.
